DoorMe Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 17, 2026
DoorMe is operated by LaVilla Holdings LLC d/b/a DoorMe ("DoorMe," "we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the DoorMe mobile applications, the guest web application at stay.doorme.app, and the website at doorme.app.
There are four kinds of people in this policy, and we treat their information differently:
- Hosts — people with a DoorMe account who create property guides
- Staff — people a host invites to help with a property; they sign in with an account of their own
- Guests — people who view a property guide; they have no account and we never ask for their name or email
- Waitlist subscribers — people who gave us an email address on doorme.app
1. What we collect
1.1 From hosts and staff
Account information. Your email address and password (stored only as a cryptographic hash). Your name, if you provide it.
Property information. Property names, addresses, and photographs you add.
Video content. The videos you record or upload, together with the thumbnails, captions, transcripts, and translations generated from them.
Subscription information. From Apple or Google we receive a transaction identifier, the plan purchased, the subscription status, and the renewal or expiry date. We never receive or store your full payment card number. If you purchase on doorme.app, Stripe processes the payment and provides us your name, email address, billing country and postal code, card brand and last four digits, the plan purchased, and the subscription status.
Support correspondence. Anything you send us at support@doorme.app.
1.2 From guests
Guests use DoorMe without an account. We do not ask for, and do not collect, a guest's name, email address, phone number, or payment information.
We do collect:
An anonymous session identifier. When a guest first opens a guide, the guest web application creates a random identifier on their device so that the guide can remember which property they were given access to. It is not linked to a name, email address, or phone number.
Search terms. What a guest types into the search box, including searches that return no result. These are shown to the host of that property in aggregate, so the host knows what to record next. They are not tied to a name, an account, or a particular stay.
Video activity. Which videos are opened, and whether each is watched to the end. Reported to the host in aggregate.
Technical information that a web browser necessarily sends: IP address, browser and device type, and the page requested. IP addresses are used for security and rate limiting and are not used to identify individual guests to hosts.
Local storage on your device, recording the last property guide you opened so you can return to it. This stays on your device.
Your browser's language setting is read on your device to choose which captions to show first. It is not sent to us or stored.
We do not collect location data. DoorMe does not request or use GPS or device location.
1.3 From waitlist subscribers
Your email address; the number of properties you told us you manage; whether you use an iPhone or Android device, either inferred from your browser or as you told us; the referring page and any campaign tags in the link you followed; and the date you signed up.
1.4 Cookies and similar technologies
We use only what is necessary to make the Service work — keeping you signed in, security, and bot protection. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not permit third-party advertising networks to track you through the Service.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics on the guest web application. It measures aggregate page performance and traffic without cookies and without fingerprinting individual visitors.
2. Why we use it
| Purpose | Information used |
|---|---|
| Providing the Service — storing, encoding and delivering videos | Video content, property information, account information |
| Generating captions and translations | Video audio |
| Making guides searchable | Video transcripts, guest search terms |
| Showing hosts what their guests looked for | Guest search terms, video activity, in aggregate |
| Understanding how hosts use the Service, so we can improve it | Account identifier and product activity (for example, that a property was published or a video finished processing) |
| Billing and subscription management | Subscription information |
| Security, fraud prevention and rate limiting | Technical information |
| Sending you email about the Service | Email address |
| Legal compliance and enforcing our Terms | As required |
We do not use your video content to train artificial intelligence models, and we do not sell it.
3. Automated processing of your videos
When you upload or record a video, it is processed automatically to produce a thumbnail, a transcript, captions, and translations into supported languages. This processing is performed by Cloudflare under contract to us.
Automatically generated captions and translations may contain errors. Review them before publishing.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
We share information with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract:
| Provider | What it does |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, and file storage |
| Cloudflare | Website and application hosting, video encoding and delivery, automatic transcription, captions and translation, security, inbound email forwarding |
| Resend | Sending email |
| PostHog | Product analytics: which steps of setting up the Service hosts complete, recorded against an account identifier only |
| Stripe | Payment processing for purchases made on doorme.app |
| Apple, Google | Payment processing and subscription management for purchases made in the app |
Hosts. If you are a guest, the host of the property whose guide you view receives aggregate information about what was searched for and which videos were watched at that property. The host does not receive your name, email address, IP address, or anything that identifies you personally, because we do not collect those things from guests. When a guest opens a guide or watches a video, we record that against the host's property, never with anything that identifies the guest.
Legal. We may disclose information where required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of DoorMe, our users, or the public.
Business transfers. If DoorMe is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a materially different policy.
5. How long we keep it
| Information | Retention |
|---|---|
| Host and staff accounts and content | Until you delete it or close your account |
| Backups containing deleted content | Up to 30 days after deletion |
| Guest search terms and video activity | 13 months, then deleted or aggregated irreversibly |
| Waitlist information | Until you unsubscribe, or 24 months after signup, whichever is first |
| Billing records | As required by tax and accounting law |
| Support correspondence | 24 months |
| Product analytics | While your account is open, then deleted within 30 days after you close it |
6. Your rights
Everyone. You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask for a copy in a portable format. Email support@doorme.app. We respond within the time required by applicable law.
Hosts. You can delete your account and all of your properties and videos directly in the DoorMe app, without contacting us.
Waitlist subscribers. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, which takes effect immediately.
California residents. Under the CCPA as amended, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to delete it; to correct it; and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. You may exercise these rights at support@doorme.app, and you may use an authorized agent.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Our legal bases are: performance of a contract (providing the Service to hosts), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, and providing hosts with aggregate information about their own properties, and understanding how hosts use the Service so we can improve it), consent (marketing email), and legal obligation. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to complain to your supervisory authority. Where we transfer information outside your region, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful mechanism.
7. Children
DoorMe is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Our Terms prohibit any person under 18 from appearing in, being audible in, or being the subject of any video uploaded to the Service. If you believe a child's information has been collected, or that a video containing a minor has been uploaded, contact support@doorme.app and we will remove it.
8. Security
Information is encrypted in transit and at rest. Passwords are stored only as cryptographic hashes. Access to production systems is restricted. Property guide addresses use unguessable identifiers and are rate-limited against enumeration.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
9. International transfers
DoorMe is operated from the United States, and information is processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we use Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. If a change is material, we will give notice through the Service or by email before it takes effect. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version.
