DoorMe and text guidebooks do different jobs.
Short answer: a text-and-photo guidebook is the right tool for lists and links: where to eat, how to check in, the house rules. DoorMe is the right tool for anything a guest has to be shown: which dial, which direction, how far. Most hosts who use DoorMe keep a text guidebook too.
What text guidebooks already do well
They work. 92% of Touch Stay users report fewer guest questions. Source: Touch Stay.Digital guidebooks report a 40–60% reduction in routine support contacts. Source: SendSquared. One operator, LocalVR, saw a 60% drop in repetitive questions in three months, about 10 staff hours a month saved and a 15% lift in satisfaction. Source: Touch Stay case study.
Those are their numbers, not ours, and they are good numbers. If you have no guidebook at all, get one.
What text can't do
Read this: "Turn the left dial to the second notch, then pull the middle one out until it clicks, then turn the right one a quarter turn clockwise." Now imagine reading it in a shower at 7 AM, in your second language. That is a motion problem, and text has never been good at motion. A 20-second video of a hand doing it is understood in one watch, and the captions handle the second language.

Which one should I get?
If your guests' questions are "where should we eat" and "what time is check-out," a text guidebook covers it. If they are "how do I turn on the heat" and "the shower only does cold," those questions are about motion, and that is what DoorMe is for. If it is both, which it usually is, use both.
Is DoorMe a digital guidebook?
It is the video part of one. DoorMe answers "how does this work" with a 20-second clip behind a QR code. It does not hold restaurant lists, check-in instructions or house rules as text, and it is not a messaging tool.
Can I use DoorMe alongside a text guidebook?
Yes. Many hosts keep a text guidebook for the area and the rules, and use DoorMe for the things that need to be shown rather than read.
What do text guidebooks do better than DoorMe?
Anything that is a list or a link: places to eat, transport, check-in steps, house rules, emergency numbers. Text is faster to scan and easier to update than a video.
